"I will utilize this scholarship in Karen’s honor to continue my journey, and further my expertise in oncology nutrition. The Academy’s Oncology DPG is limited to having a biennial conference. As an Oncology Dietitian, I have only had the financial opportunity to attend this conference once. At the time I was the sole dietitian for UNMCCC. It was so exhilarating to meet other “lone Dietitians” from across the nation. I was able to network, make useful connections, and experiment with new nutrition gadgets and formulas to bring back to my facility. As a result of this conference, I became the 3rd cancer center in the nation to implement a formula sampling program with a new, organic supplement for our patients."
Congratulations, Ernestine!
